It is with great sadness that the family of W. Walter Rooney announce his passing on September 8, 2017 at White Rapids Manor, Fredericton Junction, NB. Born in Mt. Denson, NS on October 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Athlon and Eva (MacDonald) Rooney. He was the husband of the late Mildred "Bertha" Rooney.  Walter was a retired military Sergeant. Once his military career was over, he continued to work on base as a civilian for a total of 37 years. Walter was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He took pride in his property on Nevers Rd, in Lincoln, NB. His property was always neat as a pin.


Walter is survived by his children, Heather Amyotte (Ervine Porier) of Petawawa, ON, James Rooney (Darlene) of Saint John, NB, and Susan Bothman of Mississauga, ON; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many many close friends and special friend, Lillian Hawkes.  In addition to his parents and spouse, he was predeceased by all his siblings, Sheldon Rooney, Dewitt Rooney, Myrtle Stewart and Minnie DeWolfe.


There will be no visitation by Walter's request. A memorial service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St., Oromocto, NB Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 2 PM with Rev. Dr. Perry Hanley officiating. George A Kennedy, Major (Retired) - Canadian Guards & 3 RCR

Passed away on Monday August 21 at the age of 78. Widower of Jacqueline (née Jackson) and in second marriage the late Shirley (née Charbonneau). Beloved father of Tony (Michelle Peters) and proud grandfather of Austin and Jacqueline. Dear brother of Bob (Anne) and Jim (Sharon), will be dearly missed by nieces and nephews.


Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 16th, 2017 at Barrhaven United Church, 3013 Jockvale Rd. Nepean at 1 p.m. A Private family interment with Military Honours will be held at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces at a later date. Manley John Odaisky

At the North Renfrew Long Term Care Centre, Deep River on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Manley Odaisky at the age of 74 years. Husband of Phyllis Odaisky (nee: Cochrane) of Pembroke. Loving father of William Odaisky and his wife Michelle of Welland, Steven Odaisky of Petawawa, Marcia Beemer and her husband Dennis of Deep River and Crystal Odaisky of Cobden. Cherished grandfather of Jamie, Brandon, Michelle, Jessi, Taylor, Amber and Sarah and 8 great-grandchildren. Also survived by two sisters Irene and Marcia. As per Manley's request cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be celebrated at a later date. Donald Walls

WALLS, Donald Freeman, 73, of Enfield N.S., passed away peacefully August 15, 2017 surrounded by family and friends at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax, N.S.. Born in Neil’s Harbour, N.S. he was the son of Ellen and the late Joe Walls.

He proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 30 years, retiring as Sergeant. Don was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Montgomery Branch 133 and served on the executive with pride, finishing off with his honoured term of President in December 2016. He was also heavily involved with the East Hants Soccer Club serving as president as well as being a coach for his children’s teams. He was the proud owner of Don’s Delivery, providing courier service to the East Hants community and surrounding HRM area for 20+ years.

He will be dearly missed by his children Rosie Walls, Lantz N.S.; Donny Walls, Halifax N.S.; Dawn Marie Meadus, Comox, B.C.; and Kim Phillips, Cold Lake, A.B.; his girlfriend, Sue Stewart, Upper Musquodoboit, N.S.; his siblings, Judy, Betty and Orman. He was predeceased a sister, Agnes.

A Legion Tribute Service will be held 2pm Saturday, August 19 at the Royal Canadian Legion, Enfield, Branch #133.

The family would like to thank his close friends Pat Adams and Crystal Lloy for their kind support as well as the wonderful care from the Victoria General ICU Nurses and Doctors.

Donald Alvin Nicholson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Donald Alvin Nicholson, on August 5, 2017 at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, Ontario at the age of 87.
Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late, Alex and Margaret (MacKenzie) Nicholson.
Donald was WWII veteran and a life member of the Ashby Legion Branch 138.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Ann (Ian Gayle); sons, Donald and Wayne, all of Ontario; brothers, Wayne and Ralph; a sister, Ruth; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Donald was predeceased by his wife, Martha (Sampson); daughter, Margaret Genter; brothers, Dougie, Jimmy and Hurbert, and sister, Lois.
Visitation for Mr. Nicholson will begin at noon on Monday, August 14 and continue until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. both at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel with Rev. Rosemary Godin officiating. Interment in Loch End Cemetery, Catalone.

Roddie, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 11, 2017, at his home in Florida.
Born in Tarbotvale Victoria County, Cape Breton, he was the son of the late Archie and Margaret (MacPhee) Carmichael of Ben Eoin.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle. Roddie is survived by daughters, Dena and Sandra; sons, Keith and Kevin, and seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by brothers, Jack (Margie) and Archie, both of Sydney; sisters, Phyllis, Sydney and Carol (Danny MacLellan), East Bay; sisters-in-law, Charlene, Windsor, ON and Charmaine, Sydney, as well as many nieces and nephews who appreciated his wit.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Connie (Fink) Carmichael; brothers, Elmer, Bernie and Roy; sisters, Marie, Florence and Dena; brothers-in-law, William Johnston, Donald Johnston and Ron Youden; sister-in-law, Louise; nephew, Stephen Johnston, and grandson, David Carmichael.

BURT, Delmar -  - Passed away peacefully at Victoria Village in Barrie on Tuesday June 27th, 2017 in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Vivian Burt (nee Snell). Dear father of Tina Burt-O'Hara of Barrie and Terry Burt and his wife Denise of Stroud. Loving grandfather of Tom, Jessica, Jason and Jeffery. Delmar will be missed by his siblings Cheravine Brown of Markdale and Molly Powell of East Garafraxa. Predeceased by his parents Robert and Myrtle (Weller) Burt and also his brothers and sisters Merwin, Evelyn Johnson, Bud "Robert", Donald, Kenneth, Alexander, Elmer and Ronald. Delmar who was born (April 5, 1934) and raised in Brampton joined the Canadian Army and had the rank of Corporal when he was Honourably Released Dec 1957. He married his beautiful wife Vivian in Aug 1957. He was a hockey coach of various ages and levels. He was a teacher for the Canadian Power Squadron for many years and in Nov 1983 he came out of retirement to help organize the new outfit and became the Commander of the Georgetown chapter. He was a former Commander of both the Brampton chapter and the entire York West District. Working for NG for about 27 years, he had many positions and when the company relocated he took on a stronger role in the union to ensure all employees not relocating had new jobs. He took early retirement to travel Canada and the U.S. with his wife in a shiny truck and 5th wheel, settling in Florida many years for the winters. They returned to Canada to stay after a time and they took on the role of superintendent couple of an apartment building in Barrie and later resided in Stroud. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed cottaging, boating, family time with grandkids, always lent a hand to anyone that needed it and always had a box of treats in his truck for the family pets who waited for him to visit. He had a great sense of humor, was hardworking, dedicated, determined, friendly and kind. VOKES, Major Christopher John Frederick “Fred”

On Sunday, June 25th, 2017 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto, after a brief illness. Born December 18th, 1932 in Kingston, Ontario, Fred grew up in Ontario and joined the Canadian Army immediately upon graduation from Appleby College in Oakville in 1951. Fred’s distinguished military career saw him serve with the Canadian Guards in Korea, graduate from the U.S. Marine Corp. Staff College in Quantico, and serve with the P.P.C.L.I. as part of U.N. peacekeeping duties in Cyprus. Upon retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1981, he became the bursar at Ashbury College in Ottawa. His quick wit, robust laugh, and loving nature will be missed by all he knew and touched. Fred leaves behind his wife Karen Vokes (nee Peck), his son Chris Vokes (Djenane), brother Michael Vokes (Margaret), and his grand-children Alexandra, Callum, and Brynne Vokes. After a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family, died at his home in Picton on Friday June 23rd, 2017, at the age of 70. Retired Master Corporal, Canadian Armed Forces and retired Corrections Officer. Raised in Halifax and stationed throughout Canada. Devoted to his beloved wife Lynda whom he shared fifty wonderful years. Percy Charles HORNBLOW

HORNBLOW, Percy Charles 1937-2017 His long hard fight with cancer came to an end on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Brampton Civic Hospital. Percy fought hard and didn't let his disease define or control him. He lived life to the fullest and will be remembered for his dedication to the City of Brampton as well as his 50 years of volunteer service.

Sadly missed by his children David (Susan), Robert (Michelle), Tracy (Scott) and RoxAnn Herechuk, grandchildren Megan Hornblow, Aidan and Juliette Hornblow and Dakota, Lilyann, Keon, Tynan, Tristan, Quinlan Mackinnon and great-grandchild Aurora Sky.. A memorial service will follow on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1 p.m. in the chapel. Inurnment to follow.


Frank Edward MacPhee 1942-2017

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father Frank Edward MacPhee, 74 years, of Springhill, on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Nova Scotia Rehab Centre, Halifax. Born in Springhill, he was a son of the late William E. and Alva (McNutt) MacPhee.

Frank will be deeply missed by his sons, Todd (Theresa) and their children, Justus, Jerico, Jaeden, Jessica, and Jordan, all of Springhill, Robert (Kelly) and their daughter Shelby all of Springhill, Jeff (Tenique) and their children, Lily and Kamryn of Springhill and Brent (Marlie), of New Glasgow, great grandchildren, Asher, Merrick, and Zander; sisters, Dorothy MacPhee, Minerva (David) Godfrey, Bernice Wilson, Florence (Alan) Canning, Nancy (Frank) Alick, Kathy (Robin) Boss, Debbie MacPhee, all of Springhill; brothers, Alan and Robert, also of Springhill; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing in his earlier years. He also spent 4 years as a young man in Germany serving his country. Frank enjoyed wood working and his daily drives through Rodney. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He served 19 years with Corrections Canada and prior to that was employed at Surrette battery.

In addition to his parents Frank was predeceased by his brothers, Donald and Billy, as well as a brother in infancy, and sisters, Brenda and Beverly and daughter in-law Paula.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the A. H. Brown Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane Street, Springhill, (902 597 2361). Honouring Frank's wishes, there is to be no visitation or funeral services.
